One of the hallmarks of Kirill Denisov’s judo is his ability to disorientate and destabilise his opponents.
It’s this unique capability that gives him so many openings and opportunities in Tachi waza.
Denisov seamlessly blends Kumi kata with movement and Ashi waza… And his Kumi kata and Ashi waza randori is the clearest way to summarise Denisov’s judo.
He constantly uses grip breaks, Ashi waza and changes of direction to break the balance of his opponents and open up the angles for his biggest throws.
This form of randori Denisov likes to do doesn’t involve throwing. It’s simply a way for him to explore the different opportunities that present themselves as he moves his partner around the mat.
Denisov likes to experiment and find unusual ways to break grips, establish grips and throw. And this comes about from the varying combinations of Kumi kata, Ashi waza and movement.
