Overview | Kumi Kata Left V Right | Kirill Denisov
1m 50s
Five time World medallist Kirill Denisov is an expert at combining movement and gripping.
Denisov is a left handed fighter. When up against right handers, he uses a circular motion in his gripping patterns.
Primarily, he aims to fight for control of the lapel, before looking to dominate the sleeve.
His preferred high lapel and sleeve grips are relatively orthodox. The success in establishing these grips quickly, came from a high intensity movement pattern and some very unique Kumi kata tricks.
It meant that Denisov regularly found himself in a position in which to throw.
All of his favourite techniques – Tai otoshi, Kosoto gari and Uchi mata – came from these grips.
For the first time on Superstar Judo, Denisov reveals everything about his Kumi kata against opposite stance opponents.
Understand the gripping strategies and patterns he used to dominate the lapel.
The simple, but very effective, tricks that made all the difference.
And the movement patterns that were so effective.
Denisov also reveals his favourite Kumi kata warm-up games, before you get the chance to see him using his techniques at the world’s biggest competitions.
