Including over 50 ippons, extended coverage of the grudge matches and all finals, updated men’s and women’s team draw sheets, direct access to preliminaries and all medal contests.
The Japanese men have a tough opening challenge in the shape of Brazil. All eyes, in particular, will be on the -66 kg contest between Masato Uchishiba (JPN) and Joao Junior (BRA), after the Brazilian destroyed Uchishiba in the -66 kg final two days earlier. The Japanese fighter will be desperate for revenge.
Should Japan overcome Brazil they are destined to face Georgia in the semi-finals, and what a contest that would be!
On the other side of the draw is a crunch first round tie between Korea and France - two huge judo nations. Whoever triumphs will surely have an easier second contest, with either Egypt or Oceania as opponents.
Meanwhile, in the women’s event, the Japanese have to be clear favourites. With so many world and Olympic medallists in their line-up who can possibly stop them? They face Egypt in the first round and are likely to compete against their old rivals, Korea, in the semi-finals.
In the other half is Cuba versus Algeria, and a strong French team take to the mat against China.
Witness all the highlights from this fast-paced, action packed, five-person team competition.
