1999 World Judo Championships: Randall's Glory | Birmingham
30m
On the 10th October 1999 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham Graeme Randall became the first male Briton since Neil Adams in 1981 to win the World Championships.
This video, produced by Fighting Films and broadcast on BBC Grandstand the next day, tells the story of British fortunes at the first two days of the World Championships.
Highlights of all 8 finals in the first two days are included as well as bronze medal winning performances by Karina Bryant, Karen Roberts and Kate Howey. But the climax of the tape is the highlights from all of Graeme's spectacular ippon scoring fights and the -81 Kgs final itself.
For supporters of British Judo it doesn't get much better than this!
