101 Judo Ippons 2012 contains the greatest moments from the year of the London Olympic Games.
101 Judo Ippons 2012 starts in January, where we visit the World Masters from Almaty, Kazakhstan. The top 16 fighters in all 14 weight categories come head-to-head in a tense precursor to the Games. A big focus is put on the last two major London Olympic qualification tournaments, with record entries taking to the mat at the Paris Grand Slam and the Dusseldorf Grand Prix in February.
The Baku Grand Prix in the Spring is followed by the two summer Grand Slams of Moscow and Rio. Autumn brings us the first tournament after the Games – the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. And, finally, 101 Ippons ends with the incredible drama of the World Team Championships from Salvador, Brazil. The world’s top judo nations send a five person male and female team to battle it for the coveted World Cup.
Every type of Ippon is featured in separate sections of strangulations, armlocks, hold-downs and dramatic throws. Ippon is the ultimate in judo. And these are the ultimate ippons.
